Day 1: LEAVING AREQUIPA

At 08:00 am we leave Arequipa heading north west direction behind the snow-covered Chachani, Yura, a small valley with thermal springs, where we will see wild vicuñas in Pampa Cañahuas national reserve, Alpacas & llamas in Tocra, some birds like flamingoes, ibis, andean geese, ducks, andean eagle "Kara Kara", view point of the Volcanoes and snow capped mountains in Patapampa (4,800 mts.)(15,000ft.), See the Ampato, Sabancaya, Walca Walca, etc.) Chivay Capital of the valley. Afternoon visit to the thermal springs & pools in La Calera. (Admission to the pools not included, about US$2.00 per person). Overnight at Colca Lodge or similar. (L, D)

Day 2 : COLCA CANYON

Early morning after breakfast we leave for a full day excursion in the left shore, visiting beautiful typical vilages, like Yanque & Maca, colonial churches, gently people with typical needlework dresses, hundreds of pre inca terraces still in use with andean crops like corn, quinua, kiwicha (Amaranto), etc. The Cruz del Condor viewpoint: see the canyon deepness and the flight of the Condors. Stone scale models, and pre inca graves. Time for lunch and return to Arequipa. (18:00hrs approx. in Arequipa). (B, L)
